Amaethon takes off at IIMA today

The agri-business summit - 'Amaethon' -- of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) will begin today. The three-day event with the theme 'Breaking Barriers: Avant-garde perspectives for a greener world' is being organised jointly by Godrej Agrovet and Central Bank of India.

Student coordinator of the event Prateek Golecha said: "Amaethon 2010, with its emphasis on breaking barriers, has also broken all past records in terms of participation. With more than 1000 teams signed on for the three flagship events this year, further registrations have been closed. In all, Amaethon 2010 will be bigger and better than its predecessors." Golecha also said that a bunch of events has been designed around this theme to test the skills of future managers.

The event which is the biggest agri-business summit in the Asia-Pacific region will include events like CommTrade, Omniscient and Strategia where participants will encounter real-time trading situations that will test their decision-making prowess and leadership skills. Apart from these, there is also the MDM (Management Development Module) for students, which will provide them a platform to build upon their acquired knowledge through interaction with leading academia, industry chieftains, policy makers and peers coming from distinguished B-Schools across the world.

The event this year will also discuss about the issues of carbon credits and climate change effects on Indian agriculture.
