Children trek for safer roads in Bangalore

It was a blissful morning for the children as they walked up the path cheerfully for a cause on Sunday at Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park. The students of Podar institutions celebrated Kartavya — a unique walkathon for kids to promote road safety and traffic rules.

The walkathon was flagged off at the Bal Bhavan entrance by actors Priyanka Upendra and Shireen. President of Podar Education Network Swati Popat Vats and Usha Shettigar, principal, Podar International School were also present. After a kilometre-long walk, the children returned to the Bal Bhavan promenade.

Kids and parents of over 30 centres of Podar Jumbo Kids and Happy Kids along with their friends, siblings and families participated in the walkathon to uphold Kartavya, a message of duty, dedication and determination.

Also present was Ashok Nagar traffic police inspector Geetha Kulkarni.

Priyanka said that her children were students of Podar Jumbo Kids and she was happier to be associated with the school's extra-curricular activities.

The event also included the launch of a unique book on traffic safety — Jumbo Ideas for Happy Roads — in English, Hindi and Kannada and a unique board game for kids — the Jumbo Game of Road Safety.
