No child left behind: St Xavier’s mission for its platinum year
The platinum jubilee of St Xavier’s High School, Loyola Hall, will be marked by a new phase in its educational endeavours. The school aims to focus on providing education to the marginalised students in the city.

“We definitely take pride in our past. After so many years, the school sees it presence everywhere. The dedicated staff, students both present and past, and parents have jointly contributed to the school’s emergence as one of the best in the city,” said Fr Fernand Durai SJ, the principal of the school.

In furtherance of its endeavour to provide education to all sections of society, St Xavier’s launched an evening school dedicated to underprivileged children, in July 2007.

“We are at a stage where we feel that we need to give back to a society that has devoutly supported us. The past years have made us strong enough to take up this additional responsibility. We hope that in the coming years, Loyola Hall will have students who could not dream of being here because of being marginalised,” Fr Durai said.

Founded in 1935, St Xavier’s will celebrate 75 years of existence with yearlong programmes, incorporating cultural and sporting activities, as well as meets for its students, their parents and the alumni.

On October 2, the students and alumni will take out a torch rally from Mirzapur to the school. The school will also host a 20-day sporting event for all 15 St Xavier’s schools in Gujarat, from October 13.
