Uttar Pradesh government hikes course fee of aided engineering colleges

The Uttar Pradesh government today hiked fee of various courses in aided engineering colleges in the state from the current academic session.

As per the decision taken by the cabinet, Rs40,000 per year per student has been fixed for B Tech, B Arch and B Pharma courses as against the earlier fee of Rs25,000, an official spokesperson said.

For post graduate courses—including MCA, MBA and M Tech—Rs25,000 per year would be charged as against Rs17,000 fee fixed earlier.

For students taking admission under NRI quota, maximum fees will be $7,000 per year as against the earlier fee structure of $5,000.

The students will be required to pay an additional Rs5,000 as caution money which will be refundable after completion of the course.

"The new structure does not include examination and hotel fees," the spokesman said.

While hostel fees would be fixed by the executive council of the colleges, Technical University will decide the examination fee.

"The new structure will be applicable for students taking admission in the current academic session. It will also be applicable for those who either failed or were unable to appear in the examination and are again taking admission in first semester," the spokesperson said.

Last time fee of government aided colleges was hiked in the 2003.

"Keeping in mind the rate of inflation in the last seven years, increase in cost of equipment and other resources and financial burden created in the wake of sixth pay commission the government has decided to revise the fee structure," he said.
