Director General of Police Shivanand Jha on Wednesday handed over the investigation of Rs 260 cr Vastrapur Ponzi scheme case to the CID (Crime). A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID on Thursday raided the house and office of the accused.

After receiving the documents and evidence related to the case from Vastrapur police, the CID analyzed the same and initiated raids. On Thursday morning, an SIT team searched the house and office of the main accused, a Paldi-based couple identified as Vinay Shah and Bhargavi Shah. Raids were conducted at their office Archercare in President Plaza, Thaltej, and the couple's residence in Paldi. The investigators said the raids were conducted to gather evidence in the matter.

Ashish Bhatia, DGP CID crime, said: "Our team has started the investigation and we have also searched the office and house of the accused in order to get more evidence against them. Regarding the allegations levelled by Shah in an 11-page complaint, we will analyse it and if needed people mentioned in the complaint will be called for statements."

Audio clip of Vinay Shah and Swapnil Rajput

On Thursday, several audio clips of conversations between Vinay Shah and Swapnil Rajput went viral on social media. In the clips, a man, believed to be Shah, could be heard talking about the money he has given to the senior police officer, media persons and other investors. After the clips hit social media, Rajput held a press conference in which he said the clips were fabricated and he had never spoken to Shah on the phone. He further said that Shah was trying to divert focus from the actual matter by circulating such clips.

"We got the audio clips but still don't know whether the two men are actually Shah and Rajput. We are going to analyze the clip first and then further investigation will be carried out," said, Bhatia.
