The state government will press for a higher share in central taxes during the upcoming four-day visit of the 15th Finance Commission starting on Sunday. Gujarat is the sixth state the Commission will visit.

Gujarat's share of central taxes was 3.04% under the 13th Finance Commission, and it was increased marginally to 3.08% under the 14th Finance Commission. A senior official said that the state government will make presentations before the 15th Commission to increase the state's share in the central taxes kitty to "at least 4%".

"Our demand for higher share is because of three reasons. One, Gujarat is ahead of other states in implementation of developmental projects.
