11.11.11 proved to be inauspicious for four persons who were killed in separate accidents in the city on Friday. The victims include three pillion riders, including an MBA student, and a pedestrian.

B Vyshakh, a 23-year-old MBA student of AMC College of Engineering, who was riding pillion, died instantly after a lorry hit the bike from behind on Bannerghatta Road. His friend, who was riding the bike, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at BGS Hospital. The police said he is out of danger. The duo was on its way to college.

The driver fled the spot. The police, who seized the lorry, are on the look out of the driver. A case has been registered in Mico Layout police station.

B Vyshakh was a native of Kannur in Kerala. The body was handed over to his relatives after postmortem in Victoria Hospital.

In another accident, a 43-year-old woman pillion rider was run over by a private bus on Bannerghatta Road. The victim has been identified as Poornima Srikantan, a private firm employee and resident of Gottigere. She was travelling with her husband M Srikantan, also a private firm staffer, on a bike when the accident occurred at 9.15 am. While Poornima died instantly, her husband escaped with minor injuries. The couple was on its way to JP Nagar for work.

The driver of the bus, which was ferrying employees of a company, is absconding. The bus has been seized. The police have registered a case.

Man mowed down by car
In another accident, a pillion rider was killed when a car hit him from behind on Dodda Kannalli-Huskur Road under Madivala traffic police station limits on Friday.

The victim, Prasad, 44, was the owner of a watch repair shop and resident of Huskur.

Prasad had requested his neighbour Prasanna to drop him to Dodda Kannalli. The accident occurred near Anjaneya Temple. Prasad sustained a head injury after a car knocked down the bike. He was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Prasanna, who was injured, was admitted to a hospital.

Pedestrian killed
A 50-year-old man was killed after being hit by a bike at Chikkatoguru Gate on Hosur Road on Friday. The accident occurred when the victim, identified as Venkatesh, a daily wage labourer, was crossing the road. He died instantly. The rider of the bike and his friend were injured.
