Attack on Prashant Bhushan a conspiracy to ban Sriram Sena: Pramod Mutalik

National president of Sriram Sena, Pramod Mutalik, has termed the attack on Team Anna member and lawyer Prashant Bhushan a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the Sena, with an intention of getting the outfit banned by the Union government.

Mutalik has asked the Union government to conduct a thorough probe into the attack to expose the real forces behind it.

Though Bhushan’s attacker was identified as Inder Verma of a group called Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, Bhushan, however, said it was the Sriram Sena that attacked him.

Questioning the credibility of the attackers, who have reportedly claimed to be members of Sriram Sena, Mutalik said: “These youths first said they belong to Bhagat Singh Sena and are now naming Sriram Sena, but we do not have a unit in Jammu & Kashmir. Sunil Tyagi is the president of our Delhi unit. I am surprised to hear that the attackers have claimed to be the leaders of Sriram Sena Delhi and Kashmir. This was shocking.”

Speaking to DNA, Mutalik further said, the Sena had been associated with wider issues of cultural degradation, like Valentine’s Day.

“We never target individuals. Our agitation is focused on issues to protect the culture and religion of the Hindus.”

“Nobody will indulge in such attacks by stating that he belongs to such and such organisation. Even the statement by Prashant Bhushan is ridiculous as he is demanding a ban on Sriram Sena even before finding out who the real elements behind the attack are,” Mutalik said.
