BS Yeddyurappa's next move after 'dhanurmasa' ends

Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has decided to wait until January 15 for the BJP leadership’s response to his demand to be reinstated as chief minister. In a meeting with loyalists on Wednesday, he advised them to adopt a wait-and-watch policy too.

The meeting comes in the wake of chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda and BJP state president KS Eshwarappa dashing off to New Delhi to seek the national leadership’s help to get rein in Yedyurappa.

Yeddyurappa told his loyalists that it’s best to lay low until January 15 as the current dhanurmasa period, which ends with the advent of Sankranti, is inauspicious. “We will know by Sankranti about the high command’s decision. It will help us to decide about our next move. Do not worry about Eshwarappa and Gowda’s meeting with national leaders,” Yeddyurappa told his supporters.

Ministers Umesh Katti, MP Renukacharya, CM Udasi, Shobha Karandlaje, Murugesh Nirani and others met Yeddyurappa. After the meeting, they said they would abide by the high command’s decision.

Meanwhile, Gowda and Eshwarappa met BKP leaders LK Advani and Rajnath Singh on Wednesday and discussed the issue of party leadership. They got an assurance that Yeddyurappa would not be given a chance to become chief minister until he is acquitted by the court. They also met BJP president Nitin Gadkari to discuss the state cabinet’s expansion. Gadkari told Gowda to convene a BJP executive committee meeting soon.
