'Gold' Box Office: Akshay Kumar's sports drama witnesses a decline in collections on day 2

Akshay Kumar's latest release Gold witnessed a major drop in its box office collections on the second day of its release. The movie which also marks the Bollywood debut of TV actress Mouni Roy, opened to phenomenal numbers on account of it being a holiday on August 15 and the mood of the film being in sync with the spirit of Independence Day. While Gold opened to a remarkable figure of Rs 25.25 crore, it managed to rake in a total of Rs 8 crore on Thursday. 

While the collections were expected to drop on the second day owing to it being a working Thursday, nevertheless, an upward trend in the numbers is expected from Friday onwards. As of now, the total box office collections of Gold stand at Rs 33.25 crore at the domestic box office

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to share the collection figures. He wrote, "#Gold witnessed a decline on Thu... Biz should gain momentum from today onwards... Plexes hold the key... Wed 25.25 cr, Thu 8 cr. Total: ₹ 33.25 cr. India biz."

The film, directed by Reema Kagti also stars Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal. The movie clashed woth John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate
