Sunny Deol's film Poster Boys on vasectomy gets a U/A certificate

Sunny Deol has a reason to rejoice. His new movie, Poster Boys, which is a remake of a superhit 2014 Marathi film by the same name, has just been given an all-clear by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with one verbal cut.

The film addresses a sex-related issue, but in a mature manner. Says a source from the CBFC, “It’s good to see intelligent directors taking on sex-related issues. Recently, we viewed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. In that, too, we did not find a single shot or dialogue to be objectionable, although it dealt with the subject of erectile dysfunction. Now, in Poster Boys the theme is vasectomy. But the treatment is light and suitable for family-viewing. We’ve given the film a U/A rating with one verbal cut.”

Interestingly, real-life brothers, Sunny and Bobby Deol, star in Poster Boys. Shreyas Talpade, who played the lead in the Marathi version of the movie, turns director with this film. Says Sunny, “When Bobby and I came on board we were very clear that there will be no double-meaning or vulgar dialogues. A film can make a socially-relevant point on a taboo subject without losing the family audience.”

After Toilet: EK Prem Katha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Poster Boys will bring out a subject that is never addressed in films, unless we go back to IS Johar’s satire on vasectomy, Nasbandi, in the 1970s.
