Actress Tara Sutaria, who is all set to mark her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year 2', opted out of the 'Arjun Reddy' for reasons yet unknown
One of the most awaited Bollywood films, starring Shahid Kapoor is the remake of Telugu blockbuster flick Arjun Reddy.
Even though the Batti Gul Meter Chalu will start shooting for the film soon, the makers of the film were in troubled waters as the female lead finalised earlier, walked out of the project.
The makers of the film had earlier signed Tara Sutaria as the lead, but the actress who is marking her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Student of the Year 2, opted out of the remake for reasons yet unknown.
And since then the makers were on the lookout for her replacement.
But looks like the new leading lady has been finalised for the film.
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, Lust Stories actress Kiara Advani has been signed on to play the lead role in Arjun Reddy remake.
Kiara, at the moment is busy with her project in the Telugu film industry, alongside Ram Charan, but shall join the shoot for the remake soon.
"When the film’s director Sandeep Vanga approached her for the role, Kiara instantly jumped on the bandwagon! The actress is all kicked to play the part, and will join the sets of the film soon," a source was quoted as saying by the report.
The Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy will have Shahid Kapoor reprising Vijay Deverakonda’s role which is full of rawness and aggression.
The original film in Telugu is one of the most path-defining films in Tollywood and has changed the dynamics of the industry.
The Hindi remake will also be directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga who wrote and directed the original. Shalini Pandey was seen playing the female lead role, Preeti, in the original. Arjun Reddy is also being remade in Tamil titled Varma which will mark the debut of Vikram’s son Dhruv in films.
