What Karan Johar said about 'Dostana 2' may just upset you

Everyone who watched and liked Karan Johar's Dostana, were pleasantly surprised and excited when the news of Dostana 2 being made started doing rounds on the internet. 

The buzz was also that the sequel to the 2008 film will star Kapoor & Sons actor Siddharth Malhotra and Dhadak actress Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. 

However, Karan has rubbished all the reports. The filmmaker took to his Twitter handle and said that all the news about Dostana 2 is untrue. 

He wrote, "Hello!!! All news circulating about DOSTANA 2 is untrue!!! Lots of speculation which is entirely baseless!!!"

If reports are to be believed, director Tarun Mansukhani had been working on the script the sequel, but the project never took off.  

The director then started working on the animation flick Koochie Koochie Hota hai, which too did not make it to the silver screen as well. 

Dostana featured Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. 

Coming back to Karan Johar,the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director, after a long time will again be seen seated in the director's chair with the massive period drama Takht, with a star cast so bright it could blind you. 

The film will feature Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. 

While Karan initially did reveal that the film would be based in the Mughal period and concerns a war over the throne (possibly the one between Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh), there is no confirmed news yet as to exactly who plays what.
