Talk about some exciting piece of news! Well, turns out that Shah Rukh Khan may adapt Kamal Haasan's Hey Ram in Hindi. The 2000 film which was made in Tamil and Hindi was written and directed by Kamal Haasan also had him essaying the protagonist, Saket Ram. The film also starred Shah Rukh Khan in the role of a fellow archaeologist Amjad Ali Khan.

If the latest buzz is anything to go by, then Shah Rukh may be adapting the film in Hindi. Why do we say so? Well, a report on Mumbai Mirror suggests that SRK has bought the Hindi remake rights of the film from its co-producer Bharat Shah.

The tabloid quoted Kamal Haasan as confirming the news, "Shah Rukh only got a wristwatch for acting in my film at the time because by the end of it, I had nothing left in hand. Now, he is the brand ambassador for a watch brand. I am glad that he got the Hindi rights of Hey Ram from Bharat bhai (co-producer Bharat Shah). He should have some memory of the film as he gave his friendship and service for it.”

The movie, which also featured Hema Malini, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Rani Mukerji, Atul Kulkarni among others, narrates the story of Saket Ram, who goes to meet his wife Aparna in Calcutta. This is when the religious riots begin, turning the Sikh and Hindu gangs against the Muslims.

Recently, Shah Rukh and Kamal Haasan were snapped together when Dunkirk helmer Christopher Nolan visited the city last weekend. In fact, Shah Rukh had also shared his 'fan boy' moment with the Interstellar directed on his social media pages.

On the work front, Shah Rukh is currently busy filming for Aanand L Rai's Zero. He will be seen playing  midget in the film which also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.
