In case you still deciding about linking your Aadhaar card with your insurance policy, here's some good news for you. Just like other deadlines, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI)  has extended the date for linking Aadhar with policies by three months.

This move follows last week's Supreme Court ruling that extended Aadhaar linkage deadlines for various financial services, welfare schemes and mobile services to March 31, 2018.

The insurance regulator in a circular issued on Monday said that the revised date of submission of the Aadhaar Number and Permanent Account Number or Form 60 by clients to reporting entity is March 31, 2018.

The central government on June 1, 2017 notified the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017 making Aaadhar and PAN/Form 60 mandatory for availing financial services including insurance and also for linking the existing policies with the same.

"These rules have statutory force and, as such, life and general lnsurers (including standalone heallh insurers) have to implement them without awaiting further instructions," said IRDAI.
