The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attacking the BJP-led municipal corporations on Wednesday said that the party was lying to the people of Delhi on the issue of allotment of two landfill sites.

The ruling AAP said that the two sites in Sonia Vihar and Ghonda, that were given in-principle approval by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) earlier this week, to dump city's waste, were located along heavily populated areas and the same will affect the health of people.

"Both are high-density areas and the dumping of tonne of waste in the vicinity could lead to massive health implications for lakhs of residents," said AAP convenor Dilip Pandey.

Pandey alleged that even though the approval was given by the DDA, which is under the BJP-ruled Central government, the latter has been spreading lies wrongly accusing the Delhi government of it.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, along with party workers, sat on a dharna at Kartar Nagar, near the proposed landfill site of Ghonda on Wednesday as a mark of protest.

"The Congress, which ruled Delhi for a long time, and the present AAP government are responsible for this crisis connected with garbage disposal. We will not allow 20 lakh people in the area to suffer due to mismanagement of garbage," said Tiwari, addressing locals.
