Sakshi, an Aam Aadmi Party supporter from Vasant Vihar, who was unaware about her age was sitting cluelessly in the recent protest with a baby in her arms. She was interrupted by a man who asked her to speak that they are present to fight for their rights and she repeated his words.

Such was the scenario of the aam aadmi in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s protest on Sunday. Old women and children were a part of the protest but they seemed to be either clueless about the agenda or came out to protest against completely different ideologies in the scorching heat. It was not just Sakshi, but several other supporters, young and old who took the streets in order to vent out their personal issues in their areas rather than the ongoing battle between Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal.

35-year-old Ramu, a resident of Shahdara, who begs on the streets to sustain himself said that their area has not been receiving an adequate amount of water supply. “People in my area spoke about the protest in the morning and in the afternoon, I saw them coming out in a group. I did not know where they were going and I blindly followed them”, said Ramu.

Thousands of AAP leaders and supporters backed up by workers from Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday staged a protest at Mandi House which ended at Parliament Street police station.

As per police sources around 5,000-6,000 people had gathered. Prominent leaders of AAP including Sanjay Singh, Pankaj Gupta, Dilip Pandey, Atishi Marlena were present. When the protest initially reached the Parliament Street Police Station, it was being carried out in isolated segments. While one group was women dominated, the other was young students who were beating dhols. The protest was not just a sight for people to bring up their personal grievances but also a fun and frolic moments for children who had accompanied their parents.

The children in the protest were seen dancing and laughing, enjoying the entire scene created by the protesters. Sounds of dhol and claps were constant at the protest which all the kore looked like a mini ‘mela’. Monu (10) when asked what was his aim of coming to the protest answered by praising the Prime Minister. He was then interrupted by his elder brother and changed the statement to praising the Delhi CM.
