Delhi: Woman, son killed in Dilshad Colony, son's friend arrested

Accused had taken loan from Beena, did not want to return it so killed them; role of another being probed

A 45-year-old woman and her 27-year-old son were found dead with stab wounds inside a flat in the Dilshad Colony area of Shahdara district on Saturday night. The police have arrested one accused in the case and the investigation revealed that he was known to deceased. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations and further investigation in the case is underway.

According to the police, the deceased were identified as Beena (45) and Lucky (27). They both lived in a rented accommodation in the area. Lucky was pursuing some course from an open university and also worked as a delivery boy for one of the food delivery applications.

"A police control room call was made by Beena's sister when she could not reach her for the whole day on Saturday. Later she went to check on her. On reaching her sister's house, she found the house locked and Beena's phone switched off. The call was made around 9:15 pm," said Meghna Yadav, Deputy commissioner of police (Shahdara).

The police reached the house and found Lucky's body in the bathroom whereas Beena's body was found inside a bed box. Both of them had been stabbed with a sharp weapon.

During the initial investigation, the police claimed that the motive of the murder can be enmity although they also found some ransacking in the house. The family members told the police that there were not many valuable things kept in the house.

In the CCTV footage, a suspect was seen entering the house and leaving after few hours on Friday night. The facts were corroborated with the mobile calls records of the deceased.

"We have arrested 23-year-old Ankit from Nand Nagri on Sunday afternoon. He was a friend of the son (Lucky). He had taken a loan of Rs 25,000 from Beena. The accused had a friendly entry in the house after which the Beena was murdered first, then Lucky who returned home was stabbed to death," Yadav said.

"Two more people were involved in murder who are on the run. They have been identified and will be arrested soon. A case of murder has been registered at GTB police station," a senior police officer said.
