The Noida Police have arrested 111 persons, including 31 women for protesting and blocking the road near the construction site of landfill in Sector 123 on Sunday. However, all of them were released later in the evening after signing a personal bond of Rs 50,000 each to maintain peace and order.
Before this arrest on the issue, the police on June 4 had arrested 45 people and sent 26 of them to jail. They were released from the jail when they signed the promised bond.
As many as 1,000 people from different sectors gathered near the Parthala roundabout and raised slogans against the administration and the government.
According to the residents, they cannot and will not sit silently. They alleged that with the construction of the dump yard, their future will be ruined as it is just metres away from their house.
"The government should be this and move the dump yard to a suitable location where there is no issue. We will continue to fight," said a protester.
The residents cursed the BJP as they feel they elected them to work for the public but they doing everything against the public.
"Despite meeting us several times, the local faces of the government are not even coming in our support. All we are asking for is clean air to breathe," said another protester.
After sitting on a silent protest for a few hours, several residents blocked the Parthala roundabout and tried to interrupt the construction also. Following which there was a massive traffic jam.
According to the police, after they got the information about residents trying to interrupt the construction work at the landfill, teams from several posts were immediately sent to the spot to control the situation.
"We requested them to vacate the location peacefully but they didn't do it. Instead, they continued to block the roads and offered there arresting," said a senior police officer.
Mahendra Kumar Singh, City Magistrate said that around 111 people were arrested which included 31 women but they were released in the evening after they signed a personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each.
