Frustrated over his father confiscating his passport, after he was deported from Australia seven years ago, a tailor from Kanpur, who made a hoax call regarding a bomb at the passport office, ITO, earlier this week, has been arrested. The man, had also made a similar bomb threat call to Seelampur police station two days later. Police said the man wanted to go abroad but his father was not allowing him. Police said his blonde hair finally led to his identification and then his arrest.

According to the police, the accused Rukhsar Ahmed, a native of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, had made a call on May 20 about a bomb at ITO passport office.

"After the call was made, we took immediate measures and emptied the building. We scanned the entire building with the help of bomb squad. When we didn't find anything suspicious, we understood that it was a hoax call," said Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East).

Again, two days later, on May 22, a similar call was received at Seelampur Police station regarding a bomb blast threat, which was also turned out to be a hoax.

"After the two successive hoax attempts, the calls were traced and it was found that they were made from a PCO. During the investigation, it came to fore that a blonde haired man used to visit the PCO often. The CCTV footages of the area were scanned and the man was identified. He was later traced and arrested on Thursday night," said Thakur.

During the interrogation, the man revealed that he had gone to Singapore in 2007 and then to Australia in 2008 on a tourist visa.

"In 2010, he was deported from Australia for living there illegally. After he was deported, his father was upset with his activities and when Ahmed again planned to go abroad recently, his father confiscated his passport. Following this, he made two hoax bomb blast calls," said Thakur.
