UPTET 2019 exam postponed due to anti-CAA protests across UP

The announcement of the new exam date will soon be done by the board.

Uttar Pradesh Teacher’s Eligibility Test (UPTET 2019) which was scheduled for 22nd December 2019 has been cancelled by the board due to on-going anti-CAA protest in the state.

Around 16 lakh applicants were supposed to appear for the UPTET 2019 test on 22nd December 2019. The admit card for the same was released on December 12, 2019.

The announcement of the new exam date will soon be done by the board.  It is highly expected that the UPTET Exam will now be held on 29 December 2019 (next Sunday).

The exam was going to held in two sessions from 10 am to 12.30 pm (primary level) and 2.30 pm to 5 pm (upper primary level).

While the official circular states that the exam has been postponed due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’. A day after one person was killed during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in Lucknow, five more people were reported dead during clashes across Uttar Pradesh on Friday. 

Protests soon turned violent as police used force to disperse demonstrators across various districts. Violence was reported from districts of Bijnor, Saharanpur, Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Bahraich, Varanasi, Muzaffarnagar, Sambhal and Firozabad.
