For Shweta Rohira, who made her stage debut with Bharat Dabholkar’s play That’s My Girl, theatre is an exciting platform. Working with veterans like Dabholkar and actors like Anant Mahadevan was an enriching experience for her. She opens up about her first brush with acting...

How were the reactions to your first play?

If I say amazing, it will be an understatement but it feels like a dream. Everyone has loved it and that just makes me smile and want to perform more and more.

Do you want to pursue theatre on a long-term basis?

Yes, I feel like a child and I call it my play ground. I definitely want to play a lot! (smiles)

Isn’t theatre difficult? Since there is a live audience, you have can never let the ball slip, right?

It’s hard and challenging but it’s super fun when you have gurus like Bharat sir, Anant sir and Mohan (producer) sir. I felt I was in the coolest Gurukul. Theatre also teaches one to live in the present. My mom always taught me to live my life one day at a time and live in the moment.

Would you like to give films a try?

I would love to for sure. I am very filmi. If there’s an exciting offer, I would love to grab it!
