Characters changed? Aishwarya and Anushka won't play Pakistanis in 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' anymore!

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is going through a tough time. The Karan Johar directorial has been in news ever since the ban on Pakistani actors have been imposed. While MNS has been protesting against its release, the IMPPA has now requested the political organisation to allow the film to release without any further protests. Now, we hear Karan too has bowed out. 

What happened? In the wake of the ban on Pakistani artists, KJo has brought about a major change in his film's plotline. He has changed the character sketches of both his leading ladies, who were earlier playing two Pakistani characters in the film. 

Anushka and Aishwarya's characters are no more that of Pakistani girls but of two Indian Muslim girls. Before the fiasco happened, designer Manish Malhotra had told Filmfare, "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is going to be that film where the characters – Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan are all dressed as people abroad but who are making a  statement. Especially, in Anushka’s and Aishwarya’s case, it’s high street fashion mixed with labels. Both play Pakistani girls and their style has a mix of the cultures. ADHM is a film close to my heart."

Now, in a recent interview, he changed his entire statement. He told Elle, "Anushka plays a Muslim girl from Lucknow in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. We have blended traditional and modern details throughout the movie. For her bridal look, we kept in mind the cultural direction of what a modern Muslim girl would opt for."

Now you know that Karan has certainly decided to make the necessary changes to avoid further issues in the film's release.
