An ode to Marilyn Monroe

Rare vintage photos of the late bombshell taken by photographer Milton Greene will be on display in the city; the works, reproduced as fine mosaic compositions, range from Rs3 lakh to Rs30 lakh.

An ode to Marilyn Monroe

Even today, almost five decades after her death, Marilyn Monroe remains one of the best subjects for photographers and other artists. And now comes a show to the city where a few of her photographs shot by photographer by Milton Greene have been reproduced as fine mosaic compositions. Marilyn lived with Milton for more than 10 years; it was during that time that he shot many special pictures of the diva.

The show at Joss restaurant in South Mumbai on March 11 is presented by art connoisseurs Sapna Kar and Ramola Bachchan.
Kar says, “Each of these photographs has an interesting story to tell. I am looking to do something similar with an Indian artist also.”

Bachchan adds, “The aim of this show is to see mosaic not as a simple tiling product, but as a means of communication and an expression of trends, fashion and lifestyle. Owning one of these rare works is not only a tribute to the world’s most famous blonde, it’s also a worthwhile investment with innate value.”

Each photograph has been reproduced for a limited edition of 25 pieces. And every portrait will be progressively numbered and provided with a certificate of authenticity. The works range from around Rs3 lakh to Rs30 lakh.
