B-Town’s partying on the house

Many A-list film personalities are giving pubs a miss and are attending parties in each other’s houses; what’s the reason for this?

B-Town’s partying on the house

Bollywood stars, it seems, have found a new way of protecting their privacy. Nowadays, many actors have stopped going to pubs or nightclubs for partying. Instead they are visiting each other’s houses and partying.

A nightclub owner in Bandra says, “Gone are the days when a Salman Khan or Sanjay Dutt used to stroll in with friends. Now, though we extend invitations to actors to visit our nightclub and also tell them that food and drinks are on the house, they refuse to come. Instead, they ask us how much would we pay them by the hour if they drop into the nightclub for half-an-hour.”

Model-turned-actor Malaika Arora-Khan says, “We feel much more comfortable if we are called to somebody’s house. There we are in our own space and we can let our hair down. We don’t have to bother about who’s gawking at us  or who’s trying to misbehave.”

“When a celeb decides to have a party, exclusivity is the mantra,” says actor Chunkey Pandey, who along with his wife Bhavna owns a nightclub in Juhu.

Meanwhile actor Arjun Rampal is tracking partying trends in Mumbai because he wants to open a branch of his pub in this city.

He says, “A great atmosphere can be created even at somebody’s residence. I am not saying that we don’t party out anymore, but most of us are now more aware of the fact that we are celebs and whatever we are doing in public is subject to a lot of scrutiny.”

Arjun seconds Chunkey and adds, “Most celebs want to rule out interference and scrutiny when they are partying. They prefer exclusivity.”
