'DNA' on the sets of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'

Now that the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati is all set to come back with its charismatic host Amitabh Bachchan, have you ever thought how the final 10 are chosen? So DNA went behind the scenes to get you a glimpse of the KBC audition held in Mumbai.

The location reminded one of an exam centre, however the ambience was more chilled out. There was a written test, an aptitude test and a personal interview. Those selected for the audition had earlier cleared the SMS round. Although the audition was held from 10 am to 5 pm, people were seen queuing up for it since four in the morning.

Says Danish Khan, vice-president and head of marketing at Sony, “This year over five million people registered. Though a random selection by computer, we selected 2,400 contestants for the 10 audition centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and others. KBC audition is probably the biggest joint entrance exam followed by a personality test. Final contestants are chosen on the basis of the verdict from jury, which includes a channel producer, a person from the production house and an independent person to give it a fair view,” he said.
