Give kids respect: Rahul Bose

It’s a known fact that actor Rahul Bose goes all out to support a cause that’s close to his heart. So when the ex-rugby player was approached by a nationwide movement to interact with little kids, he jumped right in.

Self-admittedly, Rahul is pretty good with kids.

Having been closely associated with the Teach For India movement to eradicate inequity in education, Rahul recently took a class with tiny tots and seemed to have been overwhelmed by the experience.

“I’ve been associated with the movement since its inception. It is important to urge children and the fellows of the organisation to keep them going,” says Rahul, adding that one should speak to kids in a clear, concise, and correct respectful tone. “Children are the same everywhere. You don’t have to be concerned about the language, the way you look or dress, as they are most captivated by magic. So if you exercise the child’s imagination right, you know you have them rapt. I exercise their physical and visual imagination. As an actor, I’m at an advantage that way.”

The movement of college graduates and young professionals, that celebrated Teach For India week, aims to take one giant leap closer to the vision that all children will attain an excellent education. “Each child shared their dreams with me — of becoming doctor, policewoman, pilot, designer, actor, and even the doctor of lions!” the actor smiles.
