I was in rehabilitation for two years: Sanjay Dutt

It has always been speculated if actor Sanjay Dutt had visited rehab to get rid of his addiction but he has never spoken about it.

For the first time ever, he admits it to DNA.

“I realise the pressures of modern teenage life as I’ve been there and done that.  Peer pressures are high. But it’s absolutely wrong to succumb to addictions. I was in rehab for two years.

My message to the current generation would be to enjoy life devoid of any addictions as life in itself is the best high,” says Sanjay, whose forthcoming film revolves around politics in Kashmir.

‘Baba’ (the nickname the industry has lovingly given him), who has taken a backseat in politics after joining it with gusto, says he is playing the waiting game now.

“Joining politics is a good platform to help your country, people and society. But all I can say right now is that only time will tell,” he says.

Despite him getting dragged into constant controversies, Sanjay never lost his fan following. An icon himself, we asked him if Sanjay looks up to anyone.

“I have been a loner for most part of my life. I needed a support system in my life, someone who would stabilize it, and Maanyata has stood by me like a rock.

She has sacrificed a lot and fought a long battle just to be with me.

I really look up to her for that. I love going home to her and she brings out the best in me. In short, she makes me happy,” he says.
