Isha Koppikar ‘wrestles’ her way into TV

How come a show like 100% De Dhana Dhan, which is about a masculine sport — werestling, happened to you?
There is nothing masculine or feminine about a sport. It’s all in the mindset. Wres-tling as a sport in India has always intrigued people but it has not received the recognition it deserves. India is a land where kushti was born but there aren’t many takers for wrestling. With this show we would like to revive the interest of viewers across all age groups. I believe in promoting all kinds of sport especially wrestling because I personally have been practicing martial arts for eight years.

What do you love about this sport?
Wrestling is exciting because it’s a true test of brawn and brains. At the same time it can teach you great self-defence techniques.

Will you just be an anchor of the show or will we see you do some wrestling too?
No, I will not be wrestling.

Dara Singh appears as a mentor on the show. What do you like the most about him?
Dara Singh is the pride of our nation; he is the original wrestler of India and a great role model for all young wrestlers. He is like a father figure to me.

Moving on, when is marriage happening with Timmy Narang?
It will happen in good time.

Are you disappointed it got pushed back?
The date of the wedding was not finalised, so there is no reason for disappointment.

How is your family reacting to you becoming a host?
My family is extremely happy to see me promote a sport that has been ignored in India for a long time.
