John Abraham ready to file appeal

The actor is ready to move the high court against his conviction.

John Abraham ready to file appeal

Actor John Abraham has drafted his papers challenging his conviction, and is ready to file an appeal against his conviction at the Bombay high court. The actor has been convicted and ordered 15 days in jail in a case of rash and negligent driving registered in 2006. The actor is technically out in bail.

“The papers are ready. John’s lawyers will file the appeal in a few days. The actor and his counsels believe that there is a good chance of the higher court holding him as ‘not guilty’ as he did rush the injured to the hospital after the accident,” says a source.

The accident took place on April 8, 2006 when the actor banged his 1100 CC Hayabusa bike into a cycle, injuring two people. “To begin with, I’m a law abiding citizen and will go to every length to have this verdict appealed. I’m advised that I have a good chance of succeeding this appeal,” John said in his statement.

“…In all modesty I do have a large youth interaction, who look to me for guidance and leadership and inspiration and I don’t want them to feel that when wronged, we do not fight for what is right,” John further adds, “I have the highest regard for the judicial system of our great country…”

John was charged under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.
