Karzzzz was the biggest blunder of my life: Himesh Reshamiya

He might be doing pretty well for himself but Himesh Reshammiya is aware that he’s still to make a mark as an actor. “I know people don’t take me seriously as an actor but I will prove them wrong. I am seriously working towards it,” he told After Hrs.
Starting as a successful TV producer, Himesh went on to don several hats, but most people want him to stick to music direction.

“People objected when I started music direction. Then they had problems when I turned singer. Now, they think I shouldn’t act. I think I deserve to be an actor,” he says.
But what went wrong with Karzzz? “I think that was the biggest blunder of my life,” he admits. “I will never attempt a remake again. Playing Monty’s character was pretence. Moreover, it was sold at a very high price that made it a flop. That’s the reason; I am looking at the cost-effectiveness of my films,” says Himesh.

Nevertheless, he has a long list of films lined up and has devised a game plan. “I am only doing roles which suit me. I always try to get into the skin of the characters — in fact, I do acting workshops for each role.”

But by composing music only for his own films, isn’t he limiting his musical horizon? “I am doing four to five films and that’s enough for me to give quality stuff. And to be honest, it’s a business decision.”

It’s a ‘decision’ that made him lose out on the chance to sing for AR Rahman. “Yes, I was approached but I couldn’t do because of the policy I am following. He is one composer I admire from the current lot — I think he is a genius.”
