Love all!

After Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar mends fences with Shah Rukh Khan; tells Prithwish Ganguly that he’s seeing the bigger picture.

Love all!
Akshay Kumar is at a stage when he wants to bury the past and move ahead. He was first in the news for patching up with Sanjay Dutt — with whom he has shared cold vibes for a long time — and now he’s kissed and made up with Shah Rukh Khan.

“I was touched by SRK’s gesture to drop by on my set to meet me. I would have done the same if I had known he was around. We belong to the same industry and we shouldn’t have any differences. Shah Rukh and I are good — rumours that we are enemies should now be put to rest. With Sanjay (Dutt) too, I’m sharing a great camaraderie and it will be visible in our next movie.”

The reason for this change of heart amongst the big stars, all of whom are intent on maintaining cordial relations, is because they’re finally seeing the ‘bigger picture’.

Says Akshay, “I have always tried to maintain good relations with everyone. I didn’t know anyone when I came into the industry and it just wouldn’t have been possible for me to reach where I am today if I was fighting with everyone. There are differences that crop up while you are working — it’s but natural. But with time, you realise these differences are not important in the larger scheme of things. We are all entertainers and it’s our job to entertain people. I’m concentrating on just that.”

The khiladi, who is undoubtedly the best action hero Bollywood has produced so far, says his focus now is to give back something to the genre that gave him recognition.

“I’m looking at many scripts because I want to produce an action movie. In India, we haven’t really done big budget action films which Hollywood has so successfully explored. I feel action as a genre can garner serious revenue in India as well. I want to fund an out-and-out action film — I owe it to people who have loved my action films,” he says.

One of his biggest fans is his own son Aarav — so has he ever expressed a desire to become an action star like his father?

“He loves seeing me do stunts and action scenes — I can see the same excitement I feel in his eyes. But I don’t want to push him to do anything. He is just a kid and should concentrate on playing games and studying. He loves movies and if he does decide to be an actor, it’s fine with me. But I think he’ll do something quite different. He paints very well and is very inclined to learn it. He recently painted me like Superman,” reveals Akshay with a smile.
