Marathi cinema seems to be going internationally with a theatrical release in Italy and Iran. Jogva, an IDream Productions, would be the first Marathi movie to have a theatrical release in countries like
Italy and Iran.

"We had showcased the movie in Cannes Film Festival marketing section. The response was overwhelming. While distributors from Italy and Iran have already brought it, talks are on for some other foreign territories too," Ashish Bhatnagar, CEO of IDreams Productions told PTI.

Jogva is a poignant tale of one woman's inspiring journey to break free from the shackles of discrimination, sexual oppression and servitude and find true happiness. The movie has been directed by Rajeev Patil and written by Sanjay Patil. The film stars Mukta Barve and Upendra Limaye and has music by Ajay-Atul.

"At IDreams we have always believed in content. Quality and meaningful cinema is what we are looking for, irrespective of the language," Bhatnagar said. Jogva, which has already won over 30 domestic awards, would be released in Mumbai and Pune next week. It would be released at other centre gradually and in a phased manner, he said.

"As we wanted to build right noise around the movie, we had a small release last year to make it eligible for awards. The main release would be next week," he said, adding that "we are confident of the movies success at the Box Office".

Buoyed by its success, IDreams has entrusted Rajiv Patil with the responsibility of directing another movie Pinjara. "Work on it would start soon," Bhatnagar said. "Besides movies, we are also interested in coming up with studios for TV and films, in or around Mumbai," he added.
