Meet Mr and Mrs Bhupathi

Actress Lara Dutta and tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi finally got hitched with a registered marriage in Mumbai yesterday.

Since the court was shut for the day, the marriage registrar was apparently called to Bhupathi’s residence in Bandra to solemnize the marriage. It was a close family and friends affair. Dutta looked simple yet elegant in a traditional beige and white sari by designer Ritu Kumar.

The couple will now fly out to Goa for the traditional church wedding on February 19 preceded by a sangeet tomorrow. The sangeet will be held in South Goa at Club Fresh on Candolim Beach and the wedding reception will be at the Taj Aguada with approximately 200 invitees.

Buzz is that Dutta will wear a white gown for the church wedding and an orange-coloured Manav Gangwani lehenga for the sangeet.

“They have also planned to hold a grand reception in Mumbai. The newly-weds will  then fly off for a honeymoon to an undisclosed destination. Lara and Mahesh are very busy and their schedules are full so they will hardly be together after the wedding. But they will go on a short honeymoon after which they both will be busy with their commitments,” a source close to the couple says. 

All her industry friends are expected to fly down for the wedding including Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.
