MTV Europe Awards to be held in Belfast

The MTV Europe Music Awards will be held in Belfast in early November, the music channel said on Wednesday.

The ceremony will be held at the Odyssey Arena, and Viacom-owned MTV promised "unprecedented performances and appearances" without giving further details.

The annual event, Europe's biggest pop awards ceremony, tends to be dominated by North American acts -- at last year's ceremony, held in Madrid, US artists enjoyed a clean sweep of the main prizes except for Justin Bieber, who is Canadian.
