Rana Daggubati is Sonam Kapoor's brother

Actress Sonam Kapoor is apparently shocked about the latest rumours that link her up with actor Rana Daggubati, whom she considers her brother.

Rana, sources say, has been linked to a number of girls down South, but has never admitted to having a girlfriend. “Rana is making his debut in Bollywood. It’s important that his film clicks  as his colleague Surya failed to make a headway in Bollywood when his first Hindi film failed to click. But some of his well-wishers are not happy with the way Rana is handling things at the moment. First came the link-up with Bipasha (Basu) and now, Sonam,” says a source.

Sources also reveal that Kapoor was not that keen to be ‘friends’ with Rana when they met at politico Milind Deora and film producer Pooja Shetty’s wedding reception (on November 9, 2008). But Rana, on being introduced to the actress, instantly asked for her number. He would then text Sonam  frequently, inform sources. 

Sources also add that Rana soon started asking Kapoor to meet up whenever he was in Mumbai (in 2009).  One day, Kapoor apparently decided to make Rana her brother during one of their casual meetings. Interestingly, soon after, Rana, apparently, got busy with his work and the casual meetings came to an end.

“Sonam made Rana her brother in the first few meetings. Soon after they lost touch and for the last one year Sonam has not met Rana. She doesn’t want to clarify anything but she’s upset with the way gossip is being churned out and this, despite Rana knowing about the nature of relationship that they have shared,” says a source.

Kapoor and Rana’s connection go back a long way. Rana is the son of producer Suresh Naidu and the nephew of south actor Venkatesh. Anil Kapoor has worked in several of D Ramanaidu’s (Suresh Naidu’s father) films and the two families are quite close.
