Taking digs at each other, a common thing in Bollywood

It’s no news that Bollywood thrives on mutual admiration, just as taking digs at each other is a common thing too. So, every now and then when an actor gets a pat on his back or is poked, it’s returned, with interest of course.

Recently, actors Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, who had their Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap and Delhi Belly release on the same day, went all out to promote their individual films, but also keeping in mind not to step on each other’s toes. In fact, when Aamir Khan was questioned about Big B, he stated, “I’ve got great respect for him and it’s no joke what he can do at his age.” In turn, Bachchan Sr made it a point to be a part of the 10-year celebrations of Aamir Khan Productions and reminisced fondly about his voiceover for Lagaan.

Just before actor Salman Khan’s debut home production, Chillar Party released, Salman is known to have shot a series of funny promos for the film, which has him interacting with one of the little boys from the film, Jangya, who hates the idea of wearing underwear and considers it uncool. In the promo, Sallu questions Jangya, “Why don’t you wear an underwear?” to which  Jangya replies, “because Shah Rukh doesn’t and so doesn’t Hrithik. He adds, “You also should not wear one... does Aamir also not wear one?”

Surprisingly, most of the actors take to social networking sites to vent their love or ire and Salman was at it again, when he uploaded a still of actor Ajay Devgn’s from the forthcoming Rohit Shetty film, Singham. The picture shows off a well-toned Ajay rippling his muscles. Salman tweeted: “Oye teri !!! Baap re baap. Superb ajay’s body is looking. Too good.” As a friendly banter, a day after Salman’s tweet, Ajay wrote on Twitter: “Salman’s Bodyguard is geared up with chartbuster numbers. Fabulous music, it’s heading for a blockbuster.”

A director, on conditions of anonymity, says, “Ajay has got along with most actors, irrespective of digs or praises and wife Kajol’s equations with actors too have helped in this case. Hence, it comes as no surprise that nobody has rubbed him the wrong way and vice versa.”
