Tom Hanks to bring pollution-free scooties to India

If all goes well, Hollywood actor Tom Hanks may come to India. And this isn’t for any film shooting or vacation. The actor,  also a philanthropist, is planning to bring his pollution free scooters as part of his green mission to India.

A keen investor in electric vehicles, Tom owns two such machines — a Toyota RAV4 EV and the first production AC Propulsion eBox. Tom’s fascination for such machines is visible even in his forthcoming film where he has shot extensively with scooters.

Says a source close to the actor,  “Tom is very active with his philanthropic work and always does his bit to spread the word. But he does it silently. He does not like to show off. We now hear that he’s  ready to take his project to the next level by going global. And India might be one of the stops for Tom.”

Talking about his love for scooters, Tom says he first learned to ride them during the making of his upcoming film Larry Crowne. “I had to learn to ride a scooter. It’s one thing to pass a written test, which is diabolical, but then you have to run the course, go around in a circle and go through the cones. Well, this guy was just so overjoyed to have me as his test pupil that he didn’t pay any attention to how bad I did, because I did not get disqualified. Instead I got my license, and I still have my scooter and it’s a great way to get around.”
