Emmet Brickowski is on a rescue mission in brand new trailer for 'The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part'

Emmet Brickowski, who saved the day in The Lego Movie, is now on a mission to save Lucy from an alien invader according to the new trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, released by Warner Bros on Tuesday.

Directed by Mike Mitchell of Trolls, the sequel is produced by Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Roy Lee. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is set to release on February 8, 2019.

When the trailer begins, we see that the Bricksburg now has the feel of the post-apocalyptic world and it highly resembles the tone of Mad Max: Fury Road. Lucy aka Wyldstyle (voice of Elizabeth Banks) narrates the situation of the world in distress. But there is Emmet (voice of Chris Pratt) who is still as hopeful as he was when everything was awesome in the world (get it?)

Emmet finds good and awesome in everything. Even when the alien invader comes heart-guns blazing. Because the beat coming off the invaders killing machine "is pretty fresh." After the invader challenges the residents of Bricksburg for a battle, in a meta-comment on the movie's predecessor, everyone realises that Lucy is the one who does the heavy lifting to save the city.

Then, of course, she is the one taken the hostage, along with Lego Batman (voice of Will Arnett) and others. By this time in the trailer, Emmet has to go where no brick has gone before to save them all.

From being dystopian to becoming a space saga, the trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is also filled with jokes that will make you chuckle.

Apart from Pratt, Banks, and Arnett, the movie features the voice talent of Nick Offerman as Metal Beard and Alison Brie a Unikitty. Tiffany Haddish as Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi, Stephanie Beatriz as Sweet Mayhem, and Arturo Castro as Ice Cream Cone are the new cast members.

It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. 

The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
