Narendra Modi addresses BJP National Council meet; calls Rajnath Singh 'captain', Amit Shah 'man of the match'

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Council meet on Saturday ratified Amit Shah's appointed as the new party president. Addressing a national council meeting of the BJP here, Shah said this year’s election result was a defeat of parties that indulge in vote-bank politics, and urged NDA ministers to remain focused on the promises made in the BJP’s manifesto.

Asserting that the Lok Sabha win was a team effort, Narendra Modi praised Shah saying,"Rajnath Singh Ji was the captian and Amit Shah was the man of the match during Loksabha elections. I have been knowing Amit Shah closely and I am sure that the party will be very successful under his leadership," Modi added. Read more

- We cannot accept incidents of violence. Peace, unity, brotherhood are absolutely essential to development

-When Atal ji tested the bomb we could have thought about adverse effect and what the world would think. But then and even now, we only think about India.

- Those who asked for votes in name of food security signed something in WTO that did not give food to poor. We chose to serve the poor

- Efforts are being made to isolate India over WTO. But tell me do we chose the route that would feed our poor or the one which will give good articles in newspaper, you tell me.  

- If we work for the nation keeping poors in mind, we would be able to take toughest decisions.

- Whatever the issue is, we should concentrate on that and our Karyakartas should work on it. This is above politics.

The responsibility given to us with this election under the leadership of Narendra Modi should be fulfilled.  

When Rajnath ji spoke about  272 plus seats, people mocked and made fun of it, but it was proved right in the end.

It is now important that not only ministers but also the party workers should act.

Had told Amit Shah that PM must speak, not me, but Shah insisted me to speak.

2014 victory is outstanding. 

It is for the first time such an organised session.

It's good to see that the Chief Minister from two BJP ruled states along with the new government ministers also presented a report for the work done so far.

- We will facilitate return and settling in of those Kashmiri Pandits who want to go back to the valley

- We are a low taxation government and not a high taxation one like the previous UPA government.

- The way in which our leaders were harassed, our national president was a victim of it.

- Parties who used to rely only on dynasties received a major blow in the Lok sabha elections.

- No political pundit could have predicted that we will win so many seats and Congress will perform so badly.

- The Haryana party unit must work to ensure BJP comes to power on its own. We can look at alliance if needed

- I appeal to people of Jharkhand to give us a chance and I promise we will make it as good as Chhattisgarh

- Under Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji it was a coalition, but this time we have majority on our own.

People might have questions regarding nomination of Amit Shah as party chief. In the history of UP, we won thumping victory on 71 out of 80 seats in UP and the credit goes to Shah, Singh says.
