If anyone has a pre-existing diseasethen it will cover that ailment:PM 

You must have seen in the Asian Games. It was mostly children from small villages born in poverty-stricken houses. When they got a chance, they kept the nation’s name high: PM

I’ve been hearing Garibi Hatao for a long time. If this would’ve been done 50-60 years ago, things would’ve been different: PM

They only think that the poor want things for free. That’s their biggest mistake: PM

I have been poor. I have grown out of poverty. I have seen the self-respect that poor people have. It gives them strength to live through poverty: PM

Lakhs of people are thrown back into poverty because of out-of-pocket expenditure for medical treatment: PM Modi

Even the poor will get the same treatment as the rich: PM

Amitabh Kant and Indu Bhushan, writing a blog for PIB wrote: "Out-of-pocket expenses push nearly 66 lakh Indian households into poverty every year. About 24.9% of households in rural areas and 18.2% in urban areas meet medical expenditures through borrowings, and 17.3% of India’s population spend more than 10% of their household budget for accessing health services. The poorest of the poor are the worst impacted.

Ayushman Bharat demonstrates GoI’s strong resolve to address this issue by ensuring primary healthcare through the establishment of 1,50,000 health and wellness centres, the first of which was launched in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, in May. Digitally linked to district hospitals, these will provide comprehensive healthcare and will be responsible for providing essential drugs and diagnostic services. They will also have convergence with yoga and Ayurveda."

PM Modi tweeted: 

Today is a historic day for India! We are launching the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), which is a big step towards providing good quality and accessible healthcare to the poor of India. Over 10 crore families will benefit from this scheme.

I will be in Ranchi to mark the launch of PMJAY- Ayushman Bharat. During the programme, foundation stones for medical colleges in Chaibasa and Koderma will be laid. Health and wellness centres will also be inaugurated.
