Amid outrage over the Unnao rape survivor’s accident, UP  police sources have told Zee Media that the truck driver, cleaner and owner of the truck which hit the victim’s car were in custody.

On 28th July, a truck driven by Ashish Kumar Pal hit a car which was coming from the opposite direction at 1 PM. Sources claimed that the accused said that it was raining heavily during the time of the incident and the accident occurred after the driver failed to control the vehicle.

The owner Devedra Kishore Pal claimed that he had painted over the number plate with grease because he was being troubled by financiers as he was unable to pay instalments.

A forensic team reached Rai Bareli last evening and visited the spot and will revisit later to recreate the scene. The truck driver, its owner and a cleaner are currently in police custody.

Meanwhile, the CBI said that the Unnao rape survivor and her family had asked for the trial to be transferred to Delhi for which the agency has given them guidance. The case is already being probed by the Lucknow unit of the CBI who are on the scene. The CBI further said that the victim and her family haven’t approached the agency for protection which was being provided by UP Police.

The mother of the Unnao rape survivor who received grievous injuries in a road accident in Rae Bareli has termed the Sunday's incident a conspiracy to wipe out her family.
BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar is an accused in the rape case. He was arrested on April 13 last year.

Police also said on Monday that the registration plate of the truck that hit the car carrying the rape survivor's family was scrubbed, but they have managed to retrieve the number. The truck has been impounded and the driver arrested, they said.

The rape survivor, who is now 19-year-old, lost her two aunts in the accident while she and her lawyer received critical injuries, police said Sunday.

"It was not an accident but a conspiracy to eliminate all of us," her mother told reporters at Unnao on Monday.

"The son of a co-accused in the case, Shahi Singh, and another youth of the village had threatened us. They said that they will deal with us," she said.
