All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chairman Asaduddin Owaisi has reacted strongly to the Haryana incident where a Muslim man’s beard was forcefully shaved off.

“To those who did it, I tell them and their fathers, even if you slit our throats we will remain Muslims. We will convert you to Islam and make you keep your beard,” Owaisi told mediapersons.

Last Thursday, three people in Haryana's Gurgaon district allegedly dragged a Muslim man to a salon and forced him to shave off his beard. The three accused were arrested in Gurgaon's Sector-37.

They were identified as Eklash, Gaurav from Uttar Pradesh and one Nitin from Haryana, as per the news agency PTI. The incident happened on July 1 when the accused reportedly teased the victim in Gurgaon’s Khandsa Mandi area.

"Jaffruddin initially ignored the religious insults but he finally retorted. Following which, the accused persons assaulted Jaffruddin. Then they took him to a salon and chopped his beard off", Gurgaon’s Police told PTI.

The accused then let the victim go after warning him of dire consequences if he told anybody about the incident. They now face charges for assaulting, abusing and shaving off the beard of the Muslim man.Gurgaon Police told the news agency ANI that the three accused have denied the involvement of any organisation behind the attack. “Three people including the barber have been arrested and will be produced before the court today. This is an isolated incident and no organisation is involved in it,” DCP (Crime) Gurgaon Sumit Kuhar told ANI.
