Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a contribution of Rs 10 crore towards the relief operations for Kerala floods, on Friday.

Subtweeting a post from the office of Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan, Kejriwal wrote, "Spoke to Kerala CM. Del govt is making a contribution of Rs 10 cr. I sincerely appeal to everyone to donate generously for our brothers and sisters in Kerala."

Kerala has been witnessing acute flood situation since past few days owing to incessant rain. So far, 324 people have lost their lives in the state due to flood, according to a tweet by the Chief Minister Office (CMO) of Kerala. The Southwest monsoon has been 'vigorous' over Kerala and 'active' over Telangana, Lakshadweep, coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka, the Regional Meteorological office said in its daily weather report.

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also announced the aid of Rs 10 crore on Friday. The state will donate Rs 5 crore to Chief Minister Relief Fund and rest will be provided in the form of supplies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is due to visit the state later on Friday and Kerala CM Vijayan said he was hoping the military could step up help for the rescue effort, which is already using dozens of helicopters and hundreds of boats.

The floods began nine days ago and Vijayan said 164 people had been killed - some in landslides - with about 223,000 people forced into 1,568 relief camps.
