The panel of doctors conducting the post-mortem on the three terrorists found one of them wearing a glove that had the Made In Pakistan label.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the panel of doctors conducting the post-mortem of the three terrorists found a 'Made in Pakistan' label on the hand glove worn by one of the militants. The report cited the doctors' copy on the 'external appearance' of the terrorist.
The police source also says that they had initially missed the label while doing their own search. But the doctors found the label while making the inventory. It was only during close examination of the clothes the terrorists were wearing did the doctors find a ‘Made in Pakistan’ tag intact in one glove of a terrorist.
The probe has picked up pace following a top brass meeting held to strategise a way to accelerate the investigation. The Punjab Police are working in collaboration with the Intelligence Bureau, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF, the report added.
Preliminary analysis of the two Global Positioning System (GPS) sets found with them indicated that they had infiltrated from Pakistan by crossing the Ravi river through Mastgarh village in the Gurdaspur sector of the international border. They will now carry out a detailed analysis of the sets.
The investigators are also going to look at how they managed to get hold of the US-made night vision device. According to the initial probe, they believe device which has a unique number (032008 80063 – A325) along with markings such as “warning” and “US government property”was originated in Afghanistan.
They are also trying to find out how the attackers got access to the rocket-propelled grenade launchers. The weapon had 'ready to launch' status when it was found. The police source was quoted as saying, "This was placed in a direction...from where the major police offensive was launched. It seems the terrorists wanted to lob this rocket as a last resort to flee from the site of the encounter. Every aspect of this rocket launcher is being examined," a source said.
The Gurdaspur attack took place on July 27, 2015. The terrorists had attacked passengers in a moving bus and stormed a police station, killing seven persons, including an SP. All the terrorists were gunned down after a day-long operation by Punjab Police and elite commandos of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).
The Centre had asserted that the terrorists had infiltrated from Pakistan to carry out the strike. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who made a statement in the Rajya Sabha on terror attack said, "Preliminary analyses of GPS data indicates that the terrorists had infiltrated from Pakistan through the area near Tash in Gurdaspur district, where the Ravi river enters Pakistan."
