BJP's big plans to get 65% youth voters.
Uttar Pradesh BJP is planning to use technology till the booth level in the coming Lok Sabha elections. UP BJP will deploy 5 workers on every booth, who will have a smartphone with Namo App installed. BJP believes that through this method, the booth workers and the common people will be directly connected to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the app. The smartphones would be used to disseminate information about central and state government schemes.
Sanjay Roy, in charge of BJP's IT cell, said that our effort is to have 5 smart workers on every booth. These workers will be equipped with smartphones so that people can be shown the work done by the Center and the state government. Apart from this, Modi's Namo App would be used in rural areas by workers to convince prospective voters. There will be one point person keeping tab of this acivity in every district and division of the state.
Opposition SP has strongly reacted to BJP's gameplan. According to them, BJP is trying to mislead people using technology. Party spokesman Sunil Singh Sajjan said that "BJP has not done its last job, what will they show now?" He said other parties also have workers with smartphones at booth level and they will expose BJP. UP Congress spokesman Jeeshan Haider said that " BJP came to power leveraging social media. Other parties fell behind. But this time all are cautious and they wouldn't allow BJP to spread lies and propaganda unchecked".
Although it's a fact that all parties are now using technology to catch voters, but BJP's strategy of spreading it from war room to the party grassroots is certainly novel. The party is also looking to organise a conference of these 'smart workers' where they will be given further tips on how to go about their work. They will be told that they are not alone but are part of a larger team of dedicated workers looking to repeat 2014 performance in 2019. The party is trying to get around 65% of the youth vote which it believes would be enough to take on mahagathbandhan in India's most crucial battleground state.
