An old rivalry turned ugly after two persons, along with their parents, stabbed two brothers to death outside their residence in Noida’s sector 49 area on Monday night. Protests were staged by locals through the night, as well as in the morning, with family members refusing to move the bodies of the two brothers from the protest site and demanding arrest of the accused persons. The accused men have been identified as Gulshan, his brother Jitendra, their father Omkar and their mother. While the police managed to arrest Gulshan and his father Omkar, Jitendra is absconding and the mother was let off on Tuesday evening.

In order to escape the police’s wrath, the father of the accused, Omkar, even made a PCR call and told the police about the dead bodies lying near their house. The parents of the accused were taken into custody in the wee hours while Gulshan was arrested from Baghpat.

According to the police, the deceased brothers have been identified as Umesh Sharma, 20 and Yogesh Sharma, 17. The horrific murder took place barely 500 metres away from their residence.

Police sources revealed that Gulshan had enmity with someone in the locality. This person had, in turn, asked for Umesh’s help and he obliged. However, things turned ugly and Gulshan planned to eliminate them. The accused called Umesh to their house and the killings took place there. “The incident took place around 9 pm when Umesh was called by one of the brothers to their residence. Later, an altercation took place after which they threatened to stab him. Meanwhile, Umesh called his brother for help who then reached there and became another victim for the family,” said a police officer.

“When the police reached the location the youth were already taken to the hospital by locals. The duo was declared dead on arrival,” said Awneesh Kumar, a police officer.

The murder weapon is yet to be recovered by the police. A case under relevant sections has been registered against the accused.
