Over 750 dead due to heat wave in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

This year the scorching heat wave hsa claimed over 750 lives in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

While 551 people died in Andhra Pradesh, at least 213 people were reported dead in Telangana.

Raagundam in Telangana sizzled with a maximum temperature of 44.8 degree Celsius, even as Met officials released a heat wave warning for Adilabad, Khammam, Nalgonda, Karimnagar districts in the state.

In Andhra Pradesh,the maximum temperature of 46.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Jangameswarapuram of Prakasam district.

Tuni of East Godavari District recorded 46.3 degrees Celsius while Kakinada recorded 46.1 degrees Celsius.

The government of Andhra Pradesh has declared the situation caused by heat wave alarming and appealed to people not to venture out between 11am and 4 pm.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also announced an aid of Rs 1 lakh for the families of victims of heat wave. He has also directed the state administration to open camps for providing drinking water and butter milk as a measure of protection against the severe heat conditions.

National capital Delhi saw the hottest day, recording 45.5 degree celsius. Temperature in several other places hovered around the same mark while industrial town of Angul in Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 47. The Palam observatory in Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 46.4 degrees.

Meanwhile, a weather department official said in Visakhapatnam that the heatwave conditions will prevail for another day and thundershowers are likely to occur in the north-coastal Andhra Pradesh by tonight or tomorrow.
