Parliament canteen: Only place where you can get a hearty meal close to Rs12?

We all know the goverment provides subsidies for the members of the parliament. The subsidies involve telephone calls, air and rail fares, housing, water, electricity, personal assistants and highly subsidised food at the Parliamentary canteen according to the menu that is being widely shared on social media site Twitter.

The Parliamentary menu throws light on the dishes our MP's fill their plates with. A vegetarian thali comprises of dal, subzi, chapatis, pulao, curd and salad. All of this is available only for Rs12.50 paise, close to what Raj Babbar had quoted on Thursday.

Yellow dal, considered to be the poor man's food in India, costs just Rs.1.50 for a single bowl. While the low costs make the desserts sweeter than they are, a bowl of kheer costs only Rs5.50 at the Parliamentary food haven. Similarly, a small fruit cake is for Rs9.50 and a helping of fruit salad is for Rs7.
