Security establishments have been up on their feet after terrorists unleashed a fresh wave of attacks against pro-India political workers and security men in the troubled south Kashmir region.

In the last 24 hours, terrorists have stormed the residence of two ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and two security force men including an officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police, ransacking their property and threatening their family members in Tral and Wachi areas of south Kashmir.

They attacked the residence of two sitting PDP legislators of Tral and Wachi constituencies and opposition National Conference leader with grenades, injuring a CRPF jawan in the past four days.

According to police, terrorists barged into the residence of PDP Zonal President Mohommad Ashraf Pir at Dadsara in Burhan Wani's hometown of Tral and ransacked the property before fleeing from the spot on Saturday night.

"The incident took place around 9 pm on Saturday at Dadsara. Terrorists broke the window panes and household items. No one was injured in the incident. Though we rushed to the spot, but the terrorists had fled by then," said Zahid Malik, Senior Superintendent of police, Awantipora.

The terrorists later barged into the residence of PDP worker Fayaz Ahmad in Wachi area, some 30 km from Tral, and ransacked his property before fleeing the spot. They also elicited a threat on camera saying they would kill him the next time. The video was later posted on social media.

"This time we have only ransacked your house, next time we will pump bullets into your body. Tell your masters, if you ransack our houses, we will not sit silent," a terrorist is heard saying in the background of the video.

Terrorists also stormed the residences of Territorial Army soldier and assistant sub inspector of police at Tahab village in Pulwama and Batagund villages in Tral, respectively. However, both men were not present at home when the arson took place.

A CRPF jawan was injured when the terrorists lobbed a grenade at the residence of a National Conference leader at Tral on Sunday. The jawan was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The attackers fled the spot and are still on the run.

Militants had hurled a grenade at the residence of PDP MLA from Tral Mushtaq Ahmad on Friday. However, no one was injured in the attack. Earlier on October 19, militants had tossed a grenade towards the residence of PDP MLA from Wachi constituency Aijaz Ahmad Mir at Zainapora area in Shopian district of south Kashmir. The legislator was not at home when the attack occurred. There was no loss of life or property in the grenade blast.

"We have taken note of all these incidents. Massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for these attacks", said a police officer.
